Where I work there is a woman who wears a hijab. She covers her whole head. She's a muslim. And for the longest time I always thot that only muslims did that. But someone told me that even the bible tells women to cover their heads. So I wonder why christians don't wear the hijab to. Its not a big thing but it does make me wonder. Any one no why?
Some people take the verse in the New Testament literally where it tells women to cover up. And other don't. I personally think those verses were meant for the time in which it was written but not today.
Some Christian women do wear head coverings. They just don't wear a Hijab.
I know that there are some denominations that wear the headcovering. But not many. I've often been fascinated one person can read the bible differently than another one. But then, that is human nature. I suspect that more people than not, follow what they are told rather than what they read. In my own church, none of us wore the covering until the pastor brought it up in church. All of a sudden several of the women started wearing hats. But it didn't last long. I never did.
I've noticed that most people don't follow the Bible. They follow the people they respect. There's only one Bible and its words haven't changed. Yet, there are MANY denominations and sects.
