I agree with this man when he says that it's people of color that are in the majority at the food stamp office, the jails, etc.

But just as I disagree with other people that I respect on other issues, I respectfully disagree with the Reverend as to WHY the above is true.

He says that it's a system that has been in place for many years to keep these people basically, as second class people.

I say the problem is NOT white men but BLACK fathers. It is a cultural problem within large segments of the Negro community. I don't for one moment, think that black people are so weak minded that they have had to remain "under" white control.

If the problem really IS white men and their intended subjection of the Negro race, How did Barrack Obama become the President of the United States? Was he a "token black"? How did Oprah Winfrey become one of the RICHEST women in the entire world? Was she a "token" black, allowed by white men to rise to her level of success? How did Dr Condaleeza Rice EARN a PH.D degree and go on to become the Secretary of State of the United States of America? Was she "allowed" or given her degree to make it seem like it was possible? Was it not really her own success? How did Clarence Thomas end up on the Supreme Court of the United States? Did the powerful white men get together and put him in power so we would have a "token" black on the court?

Of course not!

What EACH of the above had in common was that they, THEMSELVES, took advantage of the opportunities given to ALL black people. It IS true that for many years, negroes did NOT have the same educational opportunities as caucasions. But it is JUST AS TRUE that George Wallace was made to step aside in the school house door and for over 50 years every young black person alive today has had every right every white young person has had. It IS true that black people ONCE were forced to sit at the back of the bus and to use different bathrooms, but it is JUST AS TRUE that every black young person alive today has had every right every white young person has had.

So what's the problem? Why ARE the majority of people in prisons, black? Why are the majority of food stamp recipients black? Why DO the police target young black men?

I believe it's because of the culture in large segments of the black community.

If you don't believe me, just get up in the morning and turn on the news. Make yourself a pot of coffee and sit down at 6:00 in the morning and watch the news. Do that everyday for 30 days and you will see who star on the morning news. You will NOT see white men standing over these people forcing them to end up on the news.

Until BLACK FATHERS stand up and take responsibility for their own communities INSTEAD OF blaming it on white men, nothing is ever going to change.

Rev Kennard mentioned that the percentage of white people going to college is so much higher than black people. Why is that? Do not black folks have the same pell grants available to them as do whites? Is there ONE state university in the nation that would turn away black youth? I say it is because the culture in the white community is different than in the black community and the only folks that can change that are black folks. I don't say that out of hate or prejudice. Fortunately there are Condoleeza Rices and Clarence Thomases all over the country and I am not by any means saying that ALL black people are in the same boat. I'm just saying that there are large segments of black communities all over the country who have not been made to see the importance of education and seizing their OWN opportunity that Dr Rice's parents did to her.

Negroes have every bit as much intelligence as caucasions. They have the capacity to have just as much wisdom as anyone else. They have just as much talent and creativity, given to them by the same CREATOR - whoever that may be, as any other race.

Black parents have to rise up and lead.

Because their children have EVERY right and every OPPORTUNITY that any other race does.
