Recently I had a scare in that my blood pressure shot up to 195/101. I have cut out added table sugar and added salt. Basically I am not eating anything from a bag or a box. But I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on healthy foods that I CAN eat that will not affect my blood pressure?
I have high blood pressure and am on medication for it. But I've also found Apple Cider Vinegar to be beneficial. It can be gross but there seems to be some evidence that it helps to control it.
Al, avocados are nutrient dense and also they say that the potassium in bananas can help to lower your pressure. Also oatmeal. I hope this helps.
Thanks Mom. I'm already on both of those. In fact, I JUST had a banana. For dinner, I had already planned to have an avocado split in two with the pit taken out and tuna replaced there. I appreciate the input.

ThatGirl, I too, am on medication - two of them. Three weeks ago when my blood pressure was so high, I went to the cardiologist and he changed one of my meds. The next week when I went back it had STILL not gone down so he UPPED the med by 25 mlg. It STILL has not gone down. He's upped it again. And he wants to see me in two weeks. I'm trying to be a good boy by leaving out sugar and salt and I'm drinking a ton of water. But I have read, too, about Apple Cider Vinegar and that it has a ton of helpful properties. I tried it ONCE. YUCK!!!!!!!! But I'm desperate and I appreciate you bringing it up. I think I will just grit my teeth and take it anyway.
Al, I use ACV gummies. I only use liquid ACV when I forget to order more gummies and have to wait for them to be delivered. It's a more pleasant option than liquid. www.goli.com

I hope this wonderful suggestion means that you aren't TOO angry with me (Trump).
I just ordered a bottle and because I have Capital One discounts, I got it for 13.50 instead of 19.00!! Thanks, That Girl!. I'm looking forward to getting it and taking it.
I have now lost 25 lbs and my blood pressure has gone from being too high to almost now, being too low. I top figure hovers between 120 and 130 but my lower figure is in the 60's - too low, I think .In addition to my meds, I have been taking two of the Goli gummies every day (I LOVE its taste). I have an appointment with my cardiologist on Monday. I'll see what he says, if he needs to lower my meds.
Well, it's a year later and what a time I've had! I've passed out twice and my BP spiked up the other night to 199/101 even though I am on two mediines. I have had several EKG's as well s a echo cardio gram and YESTERDAY I had a stress test, complete with images of my heart. According to the cardiologist NOTHING is wrong with my heart. He says it looks fine with NO blockages and yet I can't seem to get my BP under control. Yesterday twice I took my reading and it was good and THEN, the next minute I took it and it was 145/90!
In an effort to do all I can do, I sometime ago, cut out sugar and table salt. I basically don't eat anything from a box or a bag. At least I know I don't have a blockage.
