I'm MAD at myself! On Tuesday (28th) I didn't do ANYTHING. I couldn't make myself even get up. And what's worse, I had reservations at the Inn on the Peachtrees, downtown. I had made a reservation there some time ago, using some points that I had built up. So, basically, I WASTED my points because I was a "no show" and they used my points to cover the room. I just couldn't get up, for some reason. I had no desire to go downtown. The day before, we had gone to a Chinese restaurant and they gave us a lot of food so we took a lot of it home. So yesterday, I just munched on leftovers from there as well as a piece of cheese cake I had. Now, I'm wide awake.

It's several hours later now. This afternoon, I took an Uber down to Atlanta Vintage Books, in Chamblee. I really enjoyed myself. I spent several hours there, just lounging around, sitting in their comfortable chairs, browsing through books at my leisure. I ended up only getting one thing and I didn't really want it but I felt bad not getting something after enjoying all of their books. I also got to see their resident cats that they are famous for. Then, I walked across the street to Jebina Bistro, An Ethiopian eatery and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The late Eydie Gorme was one of my favorite romance singers. Today, I added a performance of her's to The Highland Room.

We drove over to Athens today. There was a bookstore we wanted to go to there. Here are a few pictures we took while we on the campus. Then, we came back home and stopped in at East Pearl, where we have eaten many times before. The good thing about that place is that they give you SO much food that you end up taking a lot of it home and you get two meals for the price of one. That's what happened today.

Thursday, I drove over to Norcross, a suburb of Atlanta. I have been there several times before and knew that they have two great stores on the square that I like. One is an antique store and the other is a store that specializes in all things British. I spent the afternoon there and finished it off at Dominick's Italian. I had been there several years ago and recently, one of the members here, Dr Poe, had mentioned that he and his wife had gone there. So, I decided to visit there again. I had their meatballs, which were delicious.

Last night, I spent some time organizing my restaurant visits, over in The Board Room. And, I added a great video in the Interiors section of the Screening Room about a great little "railroad" apartment in Queens. I really like that man's style.

I had a quick bite to eat at Los Recuerdos, a Colombian restaurant, just down the street and then, I headed downtown to Miami Circle which is full of antique stores. I was window shopping for a piece for my den. The emphasis should be on "window shopping" because I didn't actually buy anything. But I enjoyed the day.

I love to watch "Homeworthy" on You tube and recently there was an episode of fellow Atlantan, Gregg Irby, a gallerist here in the city. And so I added that episode to the "Interiors" section over in The Highland Room. Check it out.

Ha ha! Over this last weekend at the hotel, there was a guest who comes here twice a year for the American Legion Conference. And she always brings her "service dog", Chloe. As you can see, Chloe is treated like a child.

Today, over in my scrapbook section, I added pictures of my trip to Helen, Ga.

I flew over to Alabama to my sister's house and here are some pictures in the airport coming back. There's a big difference between Huntsville's airport and Atlanta's airport. Strangely enough, Huntsville's TSA was more stringent with me than Atlanta's was.

We went for Mexican. Yum, yum.

I added a beautiful song over in The Highland Room. It was of a popular French singer who had been invited to a French show called "The Secret Song". He was seated in a chair and invited to listen to the song. It started out with a famous French singer, Ginnett Rino singing to him and then, his own father walked in and started singing to him. His reaction was priceless. I enjoyed it.

I walked over to a local "hole in the wall" for some tacos. I normally like my taco shells hard and CRUNCHY but this place served them soft. I had to physically pick the taco up and hold it together folded, in order to eat it. But it was SO good. That's the funny thing about holes in the walls, they usually are the best. I've been to this place several times over the years and they never disappoint.

This weekend we were full again and we had not one but TWO different birthday groups. The one group was of women who were here to celebrate a "pajama party" for a 68 year old woman. They were SO loud but seemed happy. We were happy to have them.

I go in tonight for my third and final night of the week. Last night, the owner called me and told me to take out 100.00 from the cash drawer and put it in my pocket. I asked him why and he said it was because he wanted to! He's leaving tomorrow for Japan for his brother's 70th birthday and he just wanted to give that to me before he left. I really appreciated that. I told him I wouldn't argue with him. LOL.

Today, I added a great song (in Spanish) to the Highland Room: "Algo de mi", sung by the Mexican star, Ernesto D'allesio. Be sure to click over and hear him

I went to Lenox Mall for the day. I took Marta and when you get off the train, this hotel is right there.

For dinner, we met up with our friends Paresh, his wife and their son, Tapan for some delicious Indian food in Decatur. They had been there before so it was their suggestion. I really enjoyed it. It was a buffet and was all vegetarian. Then we came home for an evening of working on this site. Raj called me last night and put Rami and me on a three way call about some procedures at his front desk that he wanted clarity on. And Ricky also called me about another question on the desk that he had. Then it was off to sleep for me.

Tonight is Friday so it's my day to go into the hotel. I checked last night about our occupancy and it said we would have 34 rooms open. But it's Friday and I know that it will dwindle down to 0. We are always full or nearly so. I'll see when I get there.

I added a performance by Latoya Adams in the Sacred Music section at the Highland Room. She has a gorgeous mezzo soprano voice with a deep resonance. It's very beautiful.

Yesterday David and I drove over to John's Creek where we had a late lunch at Los Abuelos Mexican Grill. I wrote a note about it and put it in the Board Room. Then, we stopped by the store for a thing or two and then came home where I spent the rest of the day working on a post about my career. I finally finished it and posted it and then linked it to several places across this site.

This morning, I added a most gorgeous song to The Highland Room. It's the late Jessye Norman singing "All the things you are". The sound isn't the best but I am glad I added it because both the song and Ms Norman's voice are so beautiful. Then, in the Peachtree Room, I brought back "My Soul has a hat", which has a great thought to it.

I was right, I was very busy the last two nights at the hotel. We were full both nights. We always are on the weekends. When I got home this morning, there was grilled chicken and mac and cheese waiting for me, along with my favorite: peanut butter M&M's. Yum, yum.

Tonight will be my last shift of the week . . . and it was very slow. We had a massive check out Sunday morning.

I stopped in at the Varsity, downtown, for some greasy hotdogs. Yum, yum. This restaurant will holler at you when you walk in: "Whaddya have"!

Today, I added a wonderful piece to the Instrumental section of the Highland Room but was reluctant to remove the previous piece and retire it to the past performances section. It was the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" performed by the great Kim Collingsworth. It was SUCH a great performance. And in the Screening Room, I added a wonderful movie about a little 9 year old boy dying of AIDS. It was a tear jerker, for sure. And speaking of tears, in the Peachtree Room, I added a clip about a man buying peoples' groceries at the grocery store and one of the people he bought for, sure enough, burst into tears. It's a must-watch!

This afternoon, I had an appointment with the eye doctor. He had to pluck out about 10 eyelashes that had grown inward and were touching my eyes. He said that at one time (he could tell) I had had a severe eye infection when had caused scar tissue which was causing my eyelashes to droop downward. I have been to him before for the same thing and I'm sure I'll go again. The only thing to prevent this is surgery and it's not THAT important to me to have surgery.

Tonight, I go into the hotel where we are expected to be sold out. I'm sure I will be busy.
