I first went to the emergency room on a Friday. My blood pressure was 216/100. So, they kept me over night to "observe" me. The cardiologist on duty (who happened to be with the Cardiologist group that I am a patient of) changed my medication and put me on STRONG medicine to get my blood pressure down. He put me on 100 mg of Losartan, 25 mg of HCTZ and 5 mg of Almodepine. So, they let me go home the next day (Saturday a week ago) because my BP had gone down. That was Saturday. On Monday, I went back to work and promptly passed out in the floor in front of a guest due to the strong medicine which had caused me to become dehydrated.

So I went back to the hospital and they formally admitted me where I stayed overnight. That was my hospital room, above. I had always heard how bad hospital food was but I didn't agree. It was DELICIOUS. Look at that food. I was actually hoping they didn't release me until i got to eat lunch!

Anyway, they took me off of HCTZ which had caused me to become dehydrated. Now, I'm on Losartan 100 mg and Almodepine.

However, my numbers went down so much that I was and am afraid to take the Losartan. I am only taking the Almodepine. I called the nurse and she made me an appointment for the 13th of July and she told me to keep a diary of my readings. So that's what I'm doing.

This morning I took my Blood Pressure reading at 8:00 (they told me to take it at the same time each day). I took a set of 4 readings:

137/94, 146/91, 151/93 and 143/79

I will take them again tonight.

148/90, 140/93, 143,83, 157/95

I've been off Wednesday, Thursday and today. Tomorrow, I go back to the hotel.

In other news, over in the Highland Room, I added a great song sung by Sung Hoon Choi, a counter tenor from Korea. I am featuring it in the Highland Room. Also, in the archives, in the Italian shorts, I added (several days ago) a wonderful duet by two Korean singers, singing "Caruso". It is so good.

Today, I added a great old movie to The Screening Room, in the Myrtle Foster Faulkner Memorial Hall. It stars Sally Field and it's about a woman who has to start over in life after a series of bad events and it tells how she brought herself back up. It is a great movie. Be sure to click up to The Screening room and watch it

I've had a hard time the last two weeks, with my blood pressure. I have been to the emergency room twice and admitted once for a day. In that time, the doctors have changed my medicine two times. Here I was in the emergency room:

Look what they did to my arm when they were trying to put an IV in! They let me go home on a Saturday.

I've also lost 6 pounds.

I've changed my diet drastically, cutting out all table sugar, table salt as well as caffeine. I have an appointment with my cardiologist on the 13th and they have told me to keep a diary of my blood pressure readings to be able to show him. So I am going to keep a record here in the journal; beginning with today.

When I got up in the morning I took my reading at 8:00. I took it four times:

147/91, 146/90, 108/88 and 142.85.

That's high but NOT NEAR AS HIGH as it was. It has come down from 215/101. The doctor has me on 100 mg of Losartan and 5 mg of Almodepine My pressure HAS been in the 130's so i haven't been taking the Losartan, only the almodepine. Because initially I WAS on the Losartan and it cause my pressure to go TOO low and I passed out at work. I called the nurse and she told me to leave off the Losartan.

Then in the evening I took it again and it was

143/81, 122/76, 133/79 and 131/75
